PET OF THE WEEK

Windsor Essex Humane Society Featured Pet of the Week

If anyone lives up to his name, it's Trooper! Found with two broken legs after being hit by a car, this two-year-old Great Dane/Boxer mix has had two surgeries – one to repair his back leg and, just recently, the other to amputate his nerve-damaged front one. Don't think that's going to stop this energetic and charming guy however… he's a real trooper!! Photo Courtesy of Angie Chauvin Photography.

The Humane Society hopes that, by drawing attention to the plight of black animals during its “Back in Black” promotion, people will (in future) give black dogs and cats awaiting adoption as much attention as their lighter-coloured counterparts. Take Carlo for example. Active and affectionate, he can’t get enough love and wants to personally show you how wonderful black cats can be. Visit Carlo at the Humane Society today! Photo Courtesy of Angie Chauvin Photography.

It’s “Back in Black” Month at the Humane Society!

Black animals in shelters have the most difficult time getting adopted so, this month, we are putting them centre stage. Take Haylee for example – a beautiful, eight-month-old Lab/Retriever mix hoping to find someone who debunks the myth that black animals are bad luck. Visit Haylee at the Humane Society today... and you’ll see that black really is the new white!

Very interested in toys (but bores of the game once you give him one!), Phoenix is a two year old Lab who does very well with other canines and can’t wait to find a home with a yard to play in! If you are looking for a lively and good-natured boy, please visit Phoenix at the Humane Society today. Photo Courtesy of Angie Chauvin Photography

Guinea pigs, rabbits and hamsters, OH MY! There are pocket pets of all shapes, sizes and types. O.P. is just one of many small animals awaiting their forever home. If you already have a small animal at home, guinea pigs, rabbits and rats love having friends. If you are looking for a small animal come to the Humane Society and we can find one to fit in your pocket to take home! Photo Courtesy of Angie Chauvin Photography.

With the exception of spending some time in a foster home as a tiny kitten, Meatball has lived his entire life in a kennel. This six-month-old tabby is an extremely loveable and sociable young guy with purrs and headbutts to spare for the family willing to welcome him into their loving home! Please visit Meatball at the Humane Society today! Photo Courtesy of Angie Chauvin Photography.

Dagwood is a sweet 10-month-old Hound who, like most puppies, is naturally playful and curious (and talk about cute!). As a hound, he likes to “follow his nose,” so would fit very well into a home that has a yard where he can investigate all the wonderful and curious smells the world has to offer. You can visit Dagwood at the Humane Society today! Photo Courtesy of Angie Chauvin Photography.

This big boy is Duke, an eight-year-old Greyhound mix. Although a bit nervous in his new environment, he warms up quickly once he lets his guard down. If you’re looking for a nice guy who is searching for a little love to help bring him out of his shell, then visit Duke at the Humane Society today! Photo Courtesy of Angie Chauvin Photography

Starlight, star bright, the first star I see tonight… the only wish that our Starlight has is to find a new home to call hers fur-ever! Come visit this adorable grey tabby at the Humane Society today (and make her wish come true)! Photo Courtesy of Angie Chauvin Photography.

At eight months old, Phoebe is still a puppy but already knows some commands because she’s very smart… and sweet, and playful too! She thinks everything is fun and will certainly keep her new family on their toes with her “life of the party” personality.  With her own brand of surprises, the fun is guaranteed!

Although my name is Mama Mia, I’m not really Italian, just a loving and doting mom who was brought in off the streets to give birth to a gorgeous litter of kittens. I’m a love machine who thrives on affection so you need to be ready for all the amore I’m ready to give you! And, you need to know that I love to play, explore and test my limits so I hope you’re not looking for a couch potato! If you’re looking to add some passion and laughter to your life, I’m more than happy to share the love! Visit me at the Humane Society or phone 519.966.5751 for more info.

Action is my middle name but you can call me Bailey, everyone else does! At only two, I m still a go-getter whose let s go lifestyle will keep you motivated to get outside and move.

A tragic start to her young life will not keep this girl down! Breeze is only five months old, has more energy

The whole package is the best way to describe this sweet two-year-old Terrier/Lab mix. Rosie is a playful

Belle is waiting for an invitation because, if there s one thing this one year old kitty likes to do, it s party!! She s a cat on the go and is always ready for some fun

Hemi is definitely on a mission to please his new family! This one-year-old beagle s fun-loving, happy-all-the-time attitude, coupled with his puppy energy, will leave you in stitches

Thelma (left) and Louise are bonded like any partners in crime and we are looking for a home that will adopt them together (the second adoption fee will be reduced by half).

Sophie is a cat who likes to do everything in a big way. Not only does she like to be in the middle of things, she likes to lead the entire parade! Although she s adventurous and demonstrative
