7 tenders for waterline project

There was no lack of tenders when it came to bidding for a large waterline replacement project here.
Leamington council learned last week that seven companies wanted the waterline job in the Clark, Queens and Selkirk area project.
While the low tender was about $130,000 over the estimate, project co-ordinator Gary Foisy explained there is a $47,000 contingency expense built in and another $150,000 project set for this year won't get started.
The contract for $542,000 went to Major Construction Ltd., and, although a new company, Foisy said it is the "offshoot of another company" that had been around for years.
The replacement is for pipes that have been in the ground over 50 years.
