Abby Chambers was excited to go to cop camp this year — anxious to do things she's never had the opportunity to do before and make new friends.
The one thing she didn't expect was to suffer a bout of homesickness.
But the 12-year-old said, "I know I'm going home Thursday at 7 (p.m.), so I just have to suck it up."
The Comber youngster said she's been away from home before but never without a friend or a family member by her side.
Despite the little upset, Chambers said 'cop camp' has been a once in a lifetime experience and she is still glad she went.
Fishing, movies, bonfires, team building games and making new friends have certainly been worth the feelings of angst for this youngster.
Tuesday morning she was excited to join her fellow campers on board a charter fishing boat to head out onto the lake for a day of fishing.
John Sim, owner of Chante Sportfishing Charters, has been involved in the cop camp almost since its inception and has been 'hooked' ever since.
"It's just an enjoyable day out of fun fishing," said Sim. To read more go to www.leamingtonpostandshopper.com.
