Complex roof contract at $80,000

Twenty-five years after it was built a new roof will go over a section of the sports complex.

The municipality awarded a contract of about $80,000 to cover the gymnasium area.

Horizon Roofing, a company near Windsor submitted the lowest of seven tenders.

The roof was problematic when it was first installed and even resulted in a lawsuit which resulted in repairs being made but not a replacement.

The new roof is covered by three warrantees, two years on the workmanship, 15 years on the system and 20 years on the membrane.

In her report, recreation director Amanda Smith said other sections of the roof will also require replacement soon.
