Queen, Hazelton parking rules detailed to residents
Municipal staff will now be visiting residents in the north end of Queens Ave. and Hazelton Street area to explain about new parking limitations that will soon be in place.
When the new hall was built in on Erie North it created parking problems in the Queens/Hazelton area, and to resolve it parking restrictions are planned.
Rather than just surprise the residents, council last week agreed staff should visit area residents first and explain what the town is doing.
"We created the problem," said Councillor Rick Atkin, at last week's council meeting.
What has occurred is that more vehicles are parking along Hazelton and Queens creating a hazard, particularly at the intersection of those two streets.
Some of the pressure is expected to be taken off at the end of the month though, because council approved the construction of an additional parking lot, immediately to the west of the new parking lot at town hall. It will take 30-40 cars.
