Police probe report of suspicious male

Leamington OPP are investigating a rather suspicious incident that occurred on Danforth Ave. on Oct. 4.
According to police, a man showed up at a Danforth residence about 10:30 a.m., saying he was looking for family members from his hometown in Italy.
The homeowners then told him he had the wrong address and explained that he was looking for a Sandy Lakes Drive residence.
But police said the man then told them that he needed money, $2,000, to pay for the taxes and duty for clothing and merchandise he brought from Milan.
The suspicious man then offered to leave the merchandise behind in exchange for the money but the resident declined the offer.
The man asked about others in the neighborhood, then left in an older model full size grey-coloured van.
The man is described as white, 5'5"-5'6", 150 lbs (thin build), clean shaven, black hair, wearing a dark coloured suit and tie with black polished shoes.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Leamington OPP at 519-326-2544 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
