Resident wants speed limit reduced near Gore Hill School

Despite a complaint by a resident in the Gore Hill Public School area, the speed limit will remain — for now.
At a meeting of the Leamington Police Services Board, secretary Brian Sweet said the municipality's hands are tied because County Road 20 is a county road and the municipality does not have the authority to control the speed limit.
But he said, plans are in the works for a road swapping of sorts and they expect to assume control of County Road 20 in exchange for the East Side Arterial Road either later this year or next.
Sweet said the speed limit is currently 50 km/hr but questioned whether it is a matter of a need for a speed limit reduction or "is it a question of people actually slowing down".  To read more go to www.leamingtonpostandshopper.com.
