Where were you?
It was a sunny, warm September day ten years ago.
That day, the world changed forever in a matter of a couple of hours.
We can all likely recall where we were and what we were doing on September 11, 2001.
Here at the Post, we were up to our usual Tuesday morning duties, getting the paper 'put to bed' and planning the layout of the Leamington Shopper.
The internet, as it had for a couple of years, brought us immediate news that something was going on.
A co-worker alerted us to CNN reporting that a plane had hit the World Trade Centre, which was news but not of the earth-shattering variety.
At least at that point.
A quick check of the CNN website and we could see actual live footage of a smoldering tower and the anchors talked about the possibility that it was actually a commercial jetliner that had slammed into the tower.
Numerous theories were being thrown about in the newsroom and production areas of the Post, right up until the second plane slammed into the second tower, leaving us with no other conclusion but the obvious.
The all-out terrorist attack that unfolded before the eyes of the world that fateful Tuesday morning will forever be etched in our memories.
The surreal feeling as you went outside later that day to see a sky completely void of air traffic. Downright eerie, is what it was.
The thousands that perished on 9/11 have now been gone 10 years.
Hard to believe, isn't it? To read more go to www.leamingtonpostandshopper.com.
